All About 'The Mailiad'
The Mailiad is an interactive, collaborative adventure and performance. Inspired by old maps, the Hudson Valley, and the pandemic summer, The Mailiad offers a fun, adventurous exploration of a Mythic American Backyard.
Our story begins when we discover a lost bag of mail. After checking in with our local post office, we are deputized as Temporary Mail Carriers, and our adventure begins! After studying the map and discovering where to deliver our letters and packages, participants will work together to help plan our route, and make decisions along the way.
Tune in via Zoom and register below to join the adventure.
Programs take place:
September 27th and October 11th at 2pm.
The Mailiad takes place in a fictional version of America inspired by classic mythology, American history, politics, pop culture, folk crafts, and tall tales. Participants are invited to dress up in fantastic outfits, as adventurers, in fancy clothes, or whatever they want. Use the mask templates below, or make your own! Remember, this is a collaboration and a performance. So each child is welcome and encouraged to bring their own ideas and inspiration to create a character for themselves. Dressed in character, we will all perform together to deliver the lost bag of mail and explore the map.
A special thanks to The Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art at SUNY New Paltz for making this possible.
